Upward Hartford Brings Coding Bootcamp to Hartford
Upward Hartford partners with a Vermont-based Code Academy to bring the first immersive coding bootcamp to Hartford

A large part of this mission is creating opportunities for startup companies to launch and thrive in the Greater Hartford area. Upward is already home to many promising startups, and at the growth rate we are seeing, our co-working community will be home to at least 20-30 more in the next 12 months. Upward’s goal is to further expand Hartford's fast-growing talent pool so we can help further connect our startups to the resources they require in order to be competitive and successful in today’s business landscape.
A July 2018 report conducted by CBRE noted Hartford as the 7th tech talent momentum market in the country. Surrounded by insurance, manufacturing, healthcare and a growing number of specialized tech industries, Hartford's next generation of thinkers and doers must be empowered with the knowledge and skills to innovate within these industries.
As a champion for Hartford's growing tech talent pool and local companies in need of qualified candidates, Upward has partnered with Burlington Code Academy, an immersive, all-encompassing code school started in Vermont, to launch the city’s first coding boot camp. The first course BCA is offering at Upward is the Web Development Bootcamp, which emphasizes team-working approaches to build real applications that students can add to their portfolio or use in real life. Daily lessons include JavaScript programming, client and server-side software development, and soft-skill training onsite at Upward’s co-working facility.
The first course at Upward launches January 7th, 2019, and runs through March 29th, 2019. The course is in-person and full-time (Monday - Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM). Seats for this course are limited in order to provide an optimal hands-on learning experience. Therefore, those interested are encouraged to begin applying now. First round applications close on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
To kick things off, Upward and BCA are hosting an open house event to give the community of Hartford the opportunity to meet BCA’s founders, instructors, and a graduate of the Vermont cohort, as well as learn about the program.
